If you ask me which period I would recommend if you are not a fan of crowds and want still good fishing on some of our most famous rivers, then my answer would definitely be winter. Unlike the months of the season, most of our well-known rivers that are open for fishing in that period have very few guests , or there will be no one else.
It’s true that the day is somewhat shorter and it’s a little colder, but these are small things compared to the fact that you will most often have the river to yourself. Dry fly lovers will also be able to enjoy almost every day in time intervals of several hours. The water level will be a little higher, which certainly won’t be a problem, on the contrary, it can sometimes be useful. Large fish will actively feed and stock up for the upcoming spawning
